These tests are made up from different elements that enable qualifying the colour possibilities of the machine, quality of the print, width balance etc.

 

The printouts should be made in standard production, on various printing base and with finishing (varnishing, laminating). This analysis helps to create a profile which enables obtaining a high compatibility between the proof and the end printout from the machine.

 

We use a GMG proof machine with screen dot simulation.

 

Other test elements help to qualify for example the max. colour application, width reduction of lines in EAN barcodes, min. text size, line width etc.

 

The most important element of the whole process is the repeatability preservation, it means that the “fingerprint” parameters like the colour’s optical density, tone, dot gain, colour sequence, are comparable to the production parameters in the future.

 

If any significant element of the process changes, the test should be repeated.

It is advisable to repeat the tests every 6-8 months for own production repeatability control.
